Banks Photo is a professional photography service by Tom Banks. Tom has over 14 years experience as a professional photographer, working for the Varley sports agency (Middlesbrough Football Club, Leeds Rhinos), international news agency i-images.co , the major regional newspapers and shooting weddings. Tom has also worked with many PR and commercial companies, supplying eye-catching images to meet a range of business needs.

Tom first picked up a camera at the age of 12, and from then on he was hooked. At 16 he enrolled at Newcastle College School of Art and Design to study photography, gained a distinction and was offered his first job before he had even left.

Working as a picture desk assistant at the Sunday Sun, he quickly became part of the team of photographers and at the same time worked as a freelance for the Sunderland Echo before moving to a full-time senior photographer roll at the Evening Gazette in Middlesbrough. During his time there, he was shortlisted for Photographer of the Year and Picture of the Year at the Tom Cordner North East Press Awards.

In November 2007, he moved to the Newsquest North East, publishers of The Northern Echo, Darlington and Stockton Times, Durham Times, Living Magazine and The Advertiser series. Along side this, he ran a small studio and also covered many weddings across the country.

Now Tom is a full-time internationally published professional photographer, but still working for some of the major titles in the north east and continuing to grow his lifestyle, wedding and commercial photography business.
